Deformation Of The Sintering Furnace Mesh Belt After Using

May 26, 2026

After the mesh belt of the sintering furnace is put into operation, slight deformation, stretching and narrowing caused by temperature, load and other factors are normal. However, severe tensile deformation or premature occurrence of such issues requires attention, which may result from the following reasons:

I. Problems in Mesh Belt Design and Selection

Excessively thin wire diameter of the mesh beltIf the selected mesh belt has an overly thin wire diameter, it cannot withstand the combined stress of high temperature and load, leading to insufficient tension. For instance, for sintering furnaces carrying heavy materials, the wire diameter of the mesh belt should be between 3.0 mm and 4.0 mm, rather than around 2.0 mm. Mesh belts with too thin wire diameters are prone to tensile deformation under high temperatures.

Excessively large pitchAn overly large pitch weakens the structural strength of the mesh belt and prevents tight fitting. It is recommended to keep the pitch within 10 mm to 15 mm to guarantee the stability of the mesh belt under high temperature and load. Excessive pitch not only reduces the strength of the mesh belt but also impairs its overall load-bearing capacity.

II. Mechanical and Operational Issues

Improper adjustment of mesh belt tensionEither excessive or insufficient tension will cause deformation. Excess tension leads to over-stretching during operation, while insufficient tension results in slackness and deviation of the mesh belt.

OverloadingLoads exceeding the designed bearing capacity of the mesh belt will cause deformation. In practical use, the load on the mesh belt must be strictly controlled to avoid overloading. For example, if the designed bearing capacity is 50 kg/m², the actual load shall not exceed this standard.

Mesh belt deviationDeviation causes uneven stress distribution, with excessive force on one side and insufficient force on the other, which further triggers deformation. Inspect the operating condition of the mesh belt regularly. Once serpentine movement or deviation is detected, adjust the guide rails or tensioning devices promptly to ensure stable operation.

Solutions

Adjust the wire diameter and pitch of the mesh beltCalculate the appropriate specifications and type of the mesh belt scientifically according to the actual operating conditions of the sintering furnace.Common types applicable to sintering furnace mesh belts include A2, F2, RRW and so on. Various edge treatment methods for mesh belts also affect their load-bearing capacity and service life.

Adjust mesh belt tensionLoosen the tensioning device appropriately if the tension is too high, and tighten it moderately if the tension is too low.

Control load and correct deviationKeep the load within the rated range to prevent overloading. Check the operation of the mesh belt on a regular basis, and adjust the guide rails or tensioning devices immediately when deviation occurs.

Summary

Severe or premature deformation of the sintering furnace mesh belt after operation is mainly attributed to improper design and selection, faulty mechanical operation or inappropriate temperature control. By optimizing the wire diameter and pitch, regulating tension, controlling load, correcting deviation and improving temperature management, the above problems can be effectively solved. This helps extend the service life of the mesh belt and improve the operating efficiency of the sintering furnace.
